What inspired you to move into tech, and what was your biggest challenge or considerations?

I have studied economics and worked for several years in Ålandsbanken before joining Crosskey as a product specialist. It felt like a natural step in my career. I didn’t really think of it as “moving into tech”, more like an interesting opportunity to try something new.

One concern when starting in Crosskey was my lack of IT education, but I soon learned that my background in banking compensate for that quite nicely. It is not necessary to know how to code, the work is more about being open and active, finding solutions, communicating, and solving problems.

What misconceptions about tech careers would you like to demystify?

Tech careers are not only for people who code or has a technical education. Skills like problem-solving, communication and user understanding are just as important in this line of business.

What in tech is most interesting, and what trends in tech excite you the most?

The most exciting part for me is seeing ideas turn into real solutions. The trend that I think is most interesting is the growing focus on user experience in fintech. Banking systems are highly complex, but the user experience should still feel simple, intuitive, and effortless.
