Meet Jukka Aaltonen, Chief Security Officer at Crosskey
Security has been part of his career since his teens. Today he brings both technical depth and business experience to Crosskey, and a genuine passion for what AI means for the industry.
Tell us about your background.
Security has been a thread through almost my entire career. It started in my teens in our family's security company, and from there I moved through technical roles, engineering, systems, software development and DevOps, before shifting into leadership. I've held COO and VP of IT and Security roles as well as senior business leader roles. I also have a business degree alongside my technical background, which means I can sit on both sides of the table.
What keeps you engaged in IT security?
Security is one of those fields where you never stop learning. The landscape shifts constantly, threats evolve, technology changes. And right now, with AI reshaping the industry at speed, it's one of the most dynamic areas to be working in. That's genuinely exciting to me.

AI, regulation, evolving threats, what matters most, and how can Crosskey respond?
AI is the defining factor, both the biggest threat and the biggest opportunity. It's making attacks more sophisticated, but it's also what allows security teams to keep pace through automation and faster response. Compliance isn't a competitive advantage; regulation sets a baseline for everyone. The companies that win will use AI to drive customer success and innovation. Crosskey is well placed to lead that shift and be the enabler our customers need.
What is the most valuable lesson your career has taught you?
Sometimes you need to act before you're ready. Waiting for the perfect moment is a trap. When you start working on a challenge, you learn as you go, and that carries you to the next one. Some of my best moves came from stepping in before I felt fully prepared, that discomfort is usually a sign you're growing.
First impressions of Crosskey as a workplace?
Very positive. The strategy is solid, but what stands out most is the people, a depth of experience and industry knowledge that's rare. Combined with the momentum around modernization and AI, Crosskey is in a strong position. I've had a warm welcome and I'm looking forward to building something meaningful here.
