What inspired you to move into tech, and what was your biggest challenge or considerations?

I wanted a job where I could combine my skills in analyzing and finding solutions to customers’ problems and needs, while still being able to use my creativity.
My biggest challenge was taking the step and actually applying for the job. I had doubts, wondering if I was good enough, and thinking that I wasn’t a “technical” person.
A good friend once told me that whenever she steps outside her comfort zone, she reminds herself: “People with fewer skills than I have done this, so why shouldn’t I be able to?” It’s a great reminder, and I’ve borrowed that mantra many times whenever I’ve felt uncertain.

What initiatives or programs have helped you grow professionally?

I’ve taken a few courses, and I’m now a certified tester and test lead. Other than that, I’d say that becoming a good and skilled Product Specialist really comes with experience, and that takes time.
But of course, it’s inspiring to attend courses and seminars where you meet people from different areas and get to share knowledge.

What misconceptions about tech careers would you like to demystify?

Tech is no different from any other field, different skills are needed for a company to succeed. You can’t build a tech company with only highly skilled developers. You also need testers, administrators, project managers, salespeople, product specialists, team managers, product owners, scrum masters, and many others.
Not every role requires technical skills; other competencies are just as important. What really matters is being curious and eager to learn.

What in tech is most interesting, and what trends in tech excite you the most?

For me it’s to understand what needs and requirements our customer have and together find the best solution. To witness the whole process from a request, offer to development and implementation. Testing the new functionality and feeling that we’ve done a really good job with it. The client will be happy and the life for their customers will be easier. When assisting our clients to become increasingly more digital we help them to be more accessible for their customers.

I want to continue to make our processes even better, possibly with the help of AI. Me and my colleague Fredrica have developed amore efficient way of working when analyzing requirements. Which has resulted in improvements for both developers and our customers.

How do you see your role evolving in the next five years?

I hope that I will get more skilled in using AI in my daily work such as defining requirements and writing test cases. I also hope I will gain some basic understanding and education of coding so that I with the help of AI can set up simple auto tests.

How has Crosskey promoted your career & personal development?

I’ve found it really inspiring to take part in courses and trainings outside the office. Getting the chance to talk to people from other companies, hear how they work, and what challenges they face gives a fresh perspective. Knowledge sharing is motivating, and you learn a lot from it.
I’ve also been a mentor to newly hired Product Specialists, and that made me realise that I’m actually good at educating others and that I know more than I sometimes think.
