What made you start a career in tech?
It was more of a coincidence: I worked as a Naprapath but realized I couldn’t continue until I retired. Some of my friends studied at the recently started IT education at Ålands Högskola and I got curious. My favorite subject in school was math, and I was good at it. Solving logical problems has always motivated me so I thought that this could be something for me. And it was!
What is the best thing about working in tech?
The best thing about working in tech is that it never gets boring. The industry is constantly evolving, so there’s always something new to learn. It keeps you on your toes and makes every day feel different in a good way

What misconceptions about tech careers would you like to demystify?
People often think tech is only young guys, but that’s really outdated. At Crosskey we’re a mix of ages, backgrounds and personalities, and more women are joining all the time. It feels much more diverse and welcoming than many imagine
Why should young women choose tech, and what advice would you give women considering a career in tech?
It’s an exciting field that keeps expanding. Tech needs both ‘female’ and ‘male’ ways of thinking. If you’re considering a career in tech, I think you should just go for it, you learn so much that’s useful even in everyday life
